How many calories could you burn by getting off a few stops early on your daily commute in London? There’s now a map that will tell you exactly.
While in the outer regions of the city the tube makes a big difference to travel times, once you get to central London, the stops are just 10 to 15 minutes walking distance apart. And although it would take you a few minutes on the tube to travel the distance, according to this map, you could be burning around 50 calories a stop if you chose to walk.
The alternative tube map was created by GP Wayne Osborne who says “If you want an economical way to get in shape, and lower your risk of serious illness, then hopping off the tube one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way is a great way to keep fit and burn off some extra calories, and it isn’t going to bite that much more into your day than getting the tube normally would.”
