Heading to London? You need these apps…

New to London and trying to get your bearings? Or are you a lifelong Londoner looking for something new and exciting to do? Over the next few days we’ll be bringing you the best apps available so you can make the most of your life in London, no matter how long you are planning to stay!

Travel

Need to get from A to B quickly? These apps will make your life so much easier!

CityMapper

666

This app really is the best when it comes to comprehensive travel planning. It covers bus, rail and tube times and you can even link it to your Uber, so getting around needn’t be stressful anymore.

AppyParking

If you drive in London you’ll know how much of a minefield it is when it comes to parking. This (genius) app shows you where you can park and when the restrictions apply. So no more playing spot the space!

Santander Cycles

Commonly knows as Boris bikes (or should that now be Sadiq cycles?) these bikes are conveniently placed across London. This app shows you the nearby docking stations and the bike availability. There is also a journey planner to suit different riders (easy, moderate and fast).

Gett

screen322x572

Want the convenience and tradition of a black cab, but also want to schedule a pick up? Then Gett is your friend. This app lets you hail a taxi or schedule one in advance, shows you a fixed fare and you can split the fare with other passengers.

Zipcar

‘Join, reserve, unlock and drive’ — it really is that simple. The capital’s preferred car club’s app gives 24/7 access to cars and vans in your neighbourhood and lets you extend or cancel reservations on the go.
