Fancy making some money while you travel?

What can be better than taking a much-needed break away? Not much I hear you say, but how about actually making some cash whilst you travel? Now that’s better!

How about using your time away to earn a little extra money in the process? You don’t have to do anything too strenuous or even really have to work for the money, just capitalize on the fact that you will be travelling – here’s how…

Rent your stuff

Seriously consider renting out your stuff to make some extra cash whilst you are away enjoying your holiday. If you are not going to be using your driveway or private car parking spot (as your car will be at the airport) consider renting out your space. You can make a nice amount of cash depending on if the space is secure, how close to public transport it is and how long the space is available for. Look at Just Park and Your Parking Space for details on how to sign up, and for how much you could get. Also consider renting your home on Airbnb whilst you are away. If it’s in a good location or a popular city or holiday spot you could make a couple of hundred pounds a week!

Sell some photos

You’re going to be taking some amazing travel photos whilst you are away, but instead of sharing them all to Instagram immediately, why not see if you can sell a few? It’s actually surprisingly easy to sell your photos online, places like iStock, Shutterstock and Getty Images let you upload your picture then add a few details so you can get paid when someone wants to download the image!

For free accommodation and meals! Volunteering in different countries around the world is huge. One of the most popular things to do is to work on an organic farm where you do around 4-6 hours worth of work a day, leaving you with the rest of your time free. Having somewhere nice to stay, and being fed for free can make a huge positive impact to your budget, meaning that you might even be able to extend your holiday or pay for an experience that you may not have been able to afford. A lot of these ‘jobs’ are also quite flexible, in the sense that you can choose to work for a limited period of time, say a week or two, without being tied into any long term commitments. Check out World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF for short) for opportunities across 120 different countries.
