A new study has revealed some of the best places in Europe to live if you want to have the best quality of life. InterNations (which is the largest network made for people who live and work overseas) have asked over 14,000 of their members to rate various aspects of their life on a scale of 1-7.
The index covers:
- Safety and security
- Health and well-being
- Leisure activities
- Travel and transport
Here are the highest scoring European countries for your consideration:
In at number 1 is Austria. The expats there have praised its transport and infrastructure highly, but it’s the clean air and water that has pushed it into first place. It scored the top spot as the expats rated it number one for health and wellbeing.
Next up is Spain. Aside from the great weather, Spain ranked highly because it was found to be easy to settle into your new life there. They found that expats generally found the Spanish people welcoming and friendly.
Malta is in third place. It’s very popular for expats who are drawn there by the nice weather and the rich culture. Despite coming in 3rd in Europe, it’s at number 20 in the work-life balance index.
The Czech Republic has been rated highly by expats who have children. They have said that it’s great for childcare options and availability and they also believe that the cost of education is also very good, with 74% of people agreeing that education there is easy to afford.
In fifth place is Germany. Expats here love the fact that it’s easy to find work in the country. They also rated Germany highly when it comes to general living standards, which makes it a great all-rounder.
